Plural Nouns(名词复数)
Regular Plurals
Nouns that can take an -s, -es or -ies ending if the number is more than one.
Example:
boy→ boys
dress→ dresses
butterfly→ butterflies
Irregular Plurals
Nouns that can change their vowels, remain unchanged or take an -en or -ren ending if the number is more then one.
Example:
goose→ geese(鸸)
deer→ deer(鹿)
ox→ oxen(牛)
child→ children(小孩)
Foreign Plurals
Some nouns are borrowed from other languages and commonly used in English.
There are two ways of pluralizing foreign words.
(i) By the addition of the regular -s plural.
(ii) By the addition of the foreign plural.
Example:
virus→ viruses(病毒)
stimulus→ stimuli(刺激)
cactus→ cacti/ cactuses(仙人掌)
